VERO BEACH – The 14th Annual Dolphin Dash 5K Run and 1Mile Walk, benefitting the Gifford Middle School Band, was held on Saturday, Nov. 7th. Fifty-nine runners braved heavy winds to complete the 3.1 mile course looping through, and around, Riverside Park.

Evan Jones of Lakeland won first place in the Men’s Division, finishing in 18:59. Second place went to James Hauri from Lakeland in 19:52. Third place winner was Patrick Brennan of Vero Beach in 21:10.

 

In the Women’s Division, first place went to Mindy Struwas in 23:12. Secondplace

winner was Sherrie Coleman in 24:47 and Lisa Cave won third place in a time of 26:12. All three ladies are from Vero Beach.

This was a very close race for these four top finishers in both divisions.

The race was organized the Gifford Middle School Band Parents Association, and directed by Joanne Duncanson with some help from the Sailfish Striders Running Club of Stuart.
